| I'd been wanting a "bench test case" for years... and had never found anything quite right. I had almost given up and was going to try to make something myself, when I found this...
The "mini-torture-rack" is great for building up a new system in a way that's easy to troubleshoot. Any new system I work on is built up in this first, then gets migrated into a more "permanent" case only once everything is known to be right.
There are a few minor quibbles... it would be nice to be able to have two power supplies and a full set of optical and/or hard drives, while today the power-supply and optical drives sort of occupy the same space... meaning if you have two power supplies in the case, you can't have any drives mounted, and if you want more than the two HD and one optical on one side mounted, you'll need to leave the power supply external. Still, that's really a "quibble," not a real design flaw (since doing otherwise would make the whole thing significantly larger). |
