I've been using my 1250 in my WC system for over three years 24/7/365 now with out a hitch.
The reason I went with Eheim in the first place my experience with their pumps in a MUCH harsher environment: reef aquariums. Due to a very corrosive (salt water) and abrasive (VERY high TDS due to additives for the corals) environment, lesser pumps just don't last. Eheims DO last.
The FB (Fat Boy) Fittings from Danger Den are now the most reliable and universal fitting to date. The FB Fitting integrates an O-Ring capture to seal. Large ID bore for high flow and lower pressure drop compared to other fittings. Designed with a G 1/4 BSPP straight thread.
Large Bore 0.400" (10.1mm) for 1/2" fittings and 0.335" (8.5mm) for 3/8" Fittings
O-Ring capture to prevent over-tightening and/or damaging the O-Ring
Larger diameter O-Ring to help seal parts with a minor countersink
Pricing is per each fitting

Author: systemvipers Love these fittings, i was a big fan of hte high flow but I am now switching to the fat boys.
these are sweet fittings...
Author: uh8medoncha I bought 4 of these to replace a couple of the older high flow barbs and they are fantastic. The O-ring capture seal keeps the O ring from herniating under uneven pressure or to my direct down force. I am replacing all of my barb with the asap!
Author: Tek The only thing I dont like about these barbs is the short length of the threaded portion. I dont feel like I am getting the same quality seal as perfect seal or high flow barbs. Especially when you put them into an acrylic hole such as a res.
Author: Dave As Martin proved, barbs are (almost immeasurably) less-restrictive than *any* compression fitting. From personal experience, the Fat Boys are fantastic! Captive o-rings are a must. So, what are you waiting for? Grab some right now!
